The Return of Carvoeiro´s Black and White Night Party

Last weekend over 30,000 people descended onto the streets of the seaside resort of Carvoeiro for the popular Black and White night party. This event is planned each year to mark the summer solstice, and after not being held for the past two years due to restrictions, this start of summer party was welcomed back with open arms. 

Celebrations including street performances, live music and dancing took place in the main square and throughout the village. There were multiple stages with music ranging from Fado to Afro Roots, and plenty of stalls selling food and refreshments for attendees to peruse. 

The Black and White Night party in Carvoeiro has been held since 2014 and this year, the number of attendees broke records. The lively atmosphere of the evening continued throughout the night, with celebrations continuing on the beach into the early hours of the morning. 

If the turnout to this event is any indicator for the summer we have ahead of us here in the Algarve, then we can certainly hope for a very prosperous few months, which is highly needed after the difficulties faced by businesses in the region since restrictions began in 2020.
