Portugal has unveiled a transformative incentive system to promote investment in sectors critical to achieving a carbon-neutral future. This ambitious program, set to run until December 2025, is designed to support large-scale projects that drive the transition to a sustainable, environmentally friendly economy. Financed entirely by national resources, it emphasizes innovation, regional development, and global competitiveness, marking a pivotal step in Portugal’s green transformation.

The system offers substantial financial support for eligible projects focusing on renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, and advanced carbon management technologies. Examples of these include solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, electrolyzers, heat pumps, and carbon capture equipment. These technologies are considered essential in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and propelling the country toward its environmental targets. Projects qualifying under this program are eligible for non-reimbursable grants that cover up to 15% of eligible costs, with a maximum of €150 million per company. Projects already registered under other incentive programs can also benefit, provided they align with the criteria and do not exceed previously established funding limits.
